The 16th Annual Palm Beach Poetry Festival takes place January 20-25, 2020 in Delray Beach Florida. Poetry workshop faculty includes: Laure-Anne Bosselaar, Nickole Brown / Jessica Jacobs, Reginald Gibbons, Major Jackson, Ilya Kaminsky, Dana Levin, Adrian Matejka, and Maggie Smith. Special Guest Poet is Joy Harjo and our Poet At Large is Patricia Smith.
The Palm Beach Poetry Festival is dedicated to fostering the writing, reading, performance, and appreciation of poetry featuring America’s finest poets. The Palm Beach Poetry Festival’s "Art Couture Poetry Contest” seeks original poems of up to 30 lines inspired by the ART COUTURE exhibit at The Cornell Art Museum in Delray Beach, Florida.

The works in Art Couture focus on contemporary art that is fashion-inspired, as well as on fashion designers and their couture designs and illustrations. The curators want to show fashion as art alongside important works of contemporary art. Couture designs will also be displayed on mannequins in two separate galleries of the Cornell Art Museum. The show consists of six galleries with three designers and three galleries of artwork, as well as an atrium space also holding contemporary art.
ART COUTURE POETRY CONTEST GUIDELINES
Submit one original poem inspired by one of the selected works from the ART COUTURE Exhibit at the Cornell Museum of Art, no longer than 30 lines. This poem should be your own original work. Poems must be previously unpublished.
Prizes and Publication
First Prize: $100, Second, Third, Fourth, & Fifth Prizes: $25 each & 5 Honorable Mentions. The poems awarded First through Fifth Prizes will be featured in the May issue of South Florida Poetry Journal. All top ten poems (prize winners and honorable mentions) will be published on the Palm Beach Poetry Festival Website and announced in press releases.
The Contest Judge is Stephen Gibson, author of seven poetry collections, most recently, Self-Portrait in a Door-Length Mirror, winner of the 2017 Miller Williams Prize (Univ. of Arkansas Press), selected by Billy Collins and nominated for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. His poetry and fiction have appeared in such journals as American Arts Quarterly, Gargoyle, The Georgia Review, The Gettysburg Review, North American Review, The Paris Review, Pleiades, Poetry, River Styx, The Sewanee Review, Shenandoah, The Southern Review, and The Yale Review among others. He taught for thirty-two years at the Belle Glade campus of Palm Beach State College.
No Country Restriction; English Language
Poets of all nations may enter. However, the work you submit should be in English. If you have written a work in another language, you may submit an English translation.
No Age Restriction
Poets of any age may enter.

You retain the copyright to your submission. If your entry wins any cash prize, you agree to give Palm Beach Poetry Festival a nonexclusive license to publish your work online and in electronic media such as our newsletters. This includes possible publication in one or more ebooks, or a limited edition chapbook. We may ask you for a photograph or to attend a photo session for the contest winners.
